Extra Data for Mini-Kit 5.01
Illinois Central 40-foot, 29000 series, 1944 modified AAR box car

Model and photo by Jerry Hamsmith

This mini-kit comtains cast resin parts, Plano etched metal ladders and running board to convert a standard Branchline Trains Blueprint series kit into a more accurate representation of the 1946 or 1947 version of these cars (a 1948 version could also be built using different ends and roof pieces). Also included is a Tichy AB brake set, turnbuckles, and Illinois Central decals.

The Branchline Trains kit for the 40-foot AAR box car is supplied by the modeler. Either an undecorated one or one with a road name could be used.

The Resin Car Works mini-kit includes the following:

  • Resin detail parts
  • Plano etched metal ladders and running board
  • Custom decals

The modeler will also need to supply stirrups, assorted wire sizes and grabs, and all other parts to create a finished model.

Resin Car Works would like to thank the following rail historians and modelers for their high quality work. Without their efforts, these kits would not have been produced.

Tom Madden - for his castings work
Jerry Hamsmith - decal art creation, kit instructions and model photos
